Library Loot

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and me that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.
Sounds like it was written for me.

Reloot.

What did you get this week? Claire's got the linky.

My Fandoms: Firefly

While getting ready for Emerald City Comic Con, I started thinking of all the fandoms I'm apart of. so I'm going to do this series about each fandom I belong to. These are in no particular order.

First up, Firefly.
In 2005, my friend, Sara, invited me to see a movie with her. The movie was called Serenity. Her boyfriend didn't want to go so I happily went with her. Sara explained the movie was based on a tv show and she tried to explain the show. I went to see the movie without any real good idea about the show. I enjoyed the movie so she lent me her DVDs of the tv show. That's how I became a Browncoat.

I enjoy Firefly because it's basically a space western. I love the characters. So well thought out and compelling. It was really sad that it was only one season. I would have would liked to see how the characters turned out.

I've enjoyed Holly Black's other books so I had to pick this one up.

I found this one on a list of WWII fiction. I'm trying to read more WWII fiction especially books set in German occupied countries.

I love this series. Looking forward to this one.

Every time I read more Yolen, I say I'm going to read more of her books. I saw this one on the shelf and had to pick it up.

January Goal Update

  • Hike part of the Pacific Crest Trail. I did talk to a coworker and nailed down what part I want to hike. She wants to do a hike in a near by area so we talked about doing it together.
  • Learn to knit and crochet. I meant to watch a video to learn to knit but didn't. The same hiking friend offered to show me how to crochet.
  • Learn to use the sewing machine I bought. I'm attempting to recruit the same hiking friend to show me how to sew. She sure is useful.
  • Get rid of 1000 items out of our house. I have 2 boxes of stuff to take to the thrift shop.
  • Watch 12 pre-2017 movies. I watched Mulan. I'd never seen it before. I liked it.
  • Get 90,000 steps at least one week a month. I was sick most of January so I didn't get close.
  • Finish cleaning out the garage and move my car inside. Need to get more junk out of the house so I can bring the camping stuff in.
