Random Thoughts

-I'm over the hot summer we are having. Multiple days in the 90's do not make me happy. There's a reason I live in the PNW. I want fall now.

-I need to do an Instant Pot post and post some of the recipes we've been enjoying. Even when it's been hot, I've been able to cook dinner in the Instant Pot.

-I've been making yogurt in my Instant Pot and love it. We go through a lot of yogurt and I love being able to make it fresh.

-Somehow I bought hiking socks a size too big and I got a blister on my last outing. I need to pick up a new pair before my next hike.

-Still not doing much reading. I did finish a historical romance and think those might be the way to go for me right now.

-Football is back. Watching my Seahawks as I type this. I love football season.

-I bought more herbs. I added sage and oregano.

Library Loot

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and me that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.

Spotted this one on the library shelf. Looked interesting.

I read the first book in this series, Firefly Lane, a few years ago. I'm looking forward to this one.

Good looking historical fiction.

Just cause I liked the title.

I've started walking more and I'm always looking for more good walks.

Another one that just sounded good.

How I Read

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
I'll read anywhere but my bed is my favorite.
2. Do you use a bookmark or a random piece of paper?
I use the slips that are stuck in the book when I pick them up from the holds shelf. They come in handy.

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter or a certain amount of pages?
I'll try to read to a chapter break but I can stop whenever I need to.

4. Do you eat or drink while reading?
I can drink while I read but I can't eat and read.

5. Do you watch TV or listen to music while reading? I can listen to music or tv but it has to be something I'm not terribly interested in.

6. Do you read one book at a time or several at once? Nope. I read one at a time.

7. Do you prefer to read at home or anywhere? I'll read anywhere. I always carry a book.

8. Do you read out loud or silently? I read silently. Sometimes I'll read parts aloud to Tai.

9. Do you read ahead or skip pages?Sometimes I'll skim. Only if I'm getting bored and I'm close to the end.

10. Do you break the spine or keep it like new?
I don't mean to but yes I will break the spine.

11. Do you write in your books? Not but I will mark pages with sticky notes.

In an effort to help me declutter, I've started reading more about minimalism and reducing clutter.
This one looked good.

July Goal Update

Prepare to do something physically challenging in 2018. I decided to hike part of the Pacific Crest Trail in 2018. I'm started doing a few small hikes. I have one longer hike on the calendar for September.

Be able to park my car in the garage by December 31, 2017. No new update here. Still working on it. Got rid of more stuff in the house but we have so much junk.

Add yoga back into my life at least once a week. I don't think we did much yoga this month. It was a busy month.

One hour a day without technology (no phone, no computer, no tv). Still doing good on this one.

Add more art into my life. Nothing really here. I walk by a few art galleries on my way home so I always peek.

Get back to meal planning. We took a break from Plated. It's been too hot to stand over the stove. I've been using my instant pot a lot lately.

July Goal: Keep the 3 herbs I planted (rosemary, mint, and lavender) alive. I did it!

August goal: Take 100 items to the thrift shop.
