Contemplating Sewing

I wish I knew how to sew. My mom used to sew clothes. But I never learned. I've pulled out her sewing machine but I make a big mess of things and put it back. If knew how I would make some new pillows for the couch using these fabrics:

Anyone else look at fabric and dream about what you could do?

  1. Totally wish I could sew! I have a sewing machine, but no good place to set it up (nor the time to dedicate to it), so it stays packed away :-(

  2. Do you have any friends who sew? I have a few friends I get together with for a sewing night every so often. Could you do that? That's how one friend learned.

  3. I have no idea how to sew either. Though I do have high hopes that maybe my husband absorbed something more than just how to stitch things up.

The trick will be getting him to do it.

  4. Sewing is a breeze! Especially if you just want to start out with pillows. We started with pillows in home ec in school. If you have a friend who sews, have them help you!

  5. I wish I could sew too. I wear light cotton skirts all summer long, and think of how much fun it would be to sew some myself.

  7. I do! I wanted a sewing machine so bad, but so far, I'm terrible. I can mend decently, but I think I'm too impatient. I guess I'll just have to practice lots and lots! haha. I have a fabric right now that I'd love to have/use for a wrap dress. Maybe someday... haha

  8. Pillows are really really easy. In fact, I find actually setting up the sewing machine to be the most difficult part!!!!

Don't even ask me about clothes though... no idea.

  9. By the way - I really like that first fabric. Where's it from?
