Weekend Cooking: Sausage and Potato Soup

I love a good soup. When I spied this one Bacon, Butter, Cheese & Garlic, I made it immediately. I was a little skeptical of the Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage but I always try to make recipes the way they are written at least the first time. My doubts were quickly erased when I tasted the soup and just melted.

This soup (recipe link) was a huge hit with my family. Everyone wanted seconds. I did double the amount of spinach in the soup and reduced the potatoes a little but kept everything else the same. As my coworker says everything is better with half and half!

It reminded me a little of the soup my friend, Jen, makes for Easter only a little spicier. I can't wait to make this one again.

Weekend Cooking is open to anyone who has any kind of food-related post to share: Book (novel, nonfiction) reviews, cookbook reviews, movie reviews, recipes, random thoughts, gadgets, quotations, photographs. If your post is even vaguely foodie, feel free to grab the button and link up anytime over the weekend. You do not have to post on the weekend. Please link to your specific post, not your blog's home page. For more information, see the welcome post.

  1. Oh my guys would love this soup and today is the perfect day for it.

  2. You are seriously making me hungry! Also, I feel awful for not cooking as much as I should be, but unless I cook on the weekends, I'm too tired to do it during the week now with my job becoming full time. But this makes me want to get back into cooking!

  3. That's a beautiful soup. Doubling the spinach, sure adds a nice bit of color.

  4. I like all of those things! January is the perfect month to existent with new soup recipes, I will be on this one.

  5. Perfect for a cold winter's night -- add a little freshly baked bread. Yum.

  6. This sounds perfect, I'm always on the lookout for more soup recipes, thanks!

Shiny! I love comments.
