The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

Maggie Stiefvater is one of the authors on my must read list. I was so excited to read The Raven Boys. I was even excited reading it. While reading it, I couldn't wait to reread it. Yea, I'm going to be a little fan girl here.
Blue's from a family a psychics but Blue has no psychic abilities. Blue longs to get away from her family and start a life outside of Henrietta, VA. Blue avoids the boys who attend Aglionby, or the Raven Boys as she calls them. The school's mascot is a raven but ravens show up a lot through the book. I found the characters hard to picture but I still really liked them all. Blue is headstrong. She wants to get away from Henrietta but as the mystery unfolds (yes, there is a mystery), Blue understand Henrietta better than she thought she did. Gansey struggles to be who he is and who he's supposed to be. Adam knows what he wants but is stuck. Adam doesn't have Gansey's resources but wants to be like Gansey some day. Ronan confounded me the most. Such an angry young man but with such depth. I hope there is more about his story in the next book.
The mystery is hard to explain and I would rather let it unfold for when you read The Raven Boys. But Gansey is on a quest and he's enlisted Adam and Ronan to assist him. Blue meets them after the visit her psychic mom. Despite her lack of psychic abilities, Blue knows something about Gansey's fate and becomes drawn to helping him. And Stiefvater did an excellent job of letting the story unfold, building the characters, and creating their world. While I found it hard to picture the characters, I had no problem picturing the places they were. The Raven Boys really reminded of Ballad, my favorite Stiefvater book.
The Raven Boys was deliciously creepy and wholly satisfying. I'm anxiously awaiting the next in the series. The Raven Boys was amazing. I highly suggest you read it.
