Sweater Dress Obsession

I'm currently loving sweater dresses.

I'm hoping to get one before Christmas. I can just see wearing while opening gifts with friends. Comfortable and stylish.

Friday Randomness

Sally at Already Pretty had a Specialty Size Bonanza this week. If you are petite, plus sized, tall, have wide feet, or narrow calves, go here for stores that specialize in your needs. Read the comments too. People chimed in about their favs too.
I recently bought these boots from Target.
A lot edgier than my usually choices. Incredibly comfortable though.
I loved these too. But they didn't fit my calves. Boo!
I have been obsessed with mary janes.

I seriously need more in my shoe closet.

Legging Inspired Wear

So I finally broke down and bought a pair of leggings from Old Navy ($10!). I assumed I would hate them and have to return them. But no, they are fantastic. I love how comfy they are and how fantastic they fit.
I have few things to wear them with so I created a polyvore of things I want to buy so I can wear my leggings all the time:

Anyone else on the legging bandwagon?

Faith 21

I wrote about Faith 21(Forever 21's plus size shop) a while ago. I considered ordering some items but I kept hearing that the clothes ran small. I decided to wait and see if they brought any clothing to my local store. The one in Northgate does have a fairly decent selection but when I was in Portland I bought a couple of things from Faith 21.
This lace top. I love lace and have been wanting an all lace top. Looking forward to wearing it soon.
Ignore the post workout hair and the fact I still have my gym pants on! I guess the consider this a dress. It's a little short for me so I think I'll wear it with slim jeans.

These are some other shirts I'm drooling over. Overall I was pretty happy with their clothes. I usually wear a 20-22 top and I bought both tops in 3x. The dress is plenty comfy and the tank is a little roomy (might have been able to buy a smaller size). Have you tried Faith 21? What do you think of their clothes?

Must Have Shoes-The Basics

When I go shopping, I'm always looking for black shoes and brown shoes. It doesn't matter if I just bought a pair. If I have 2 pairs I love, I will always buy additional black and brown shoes. I wear black or brown shoes just about daily. They go with 90% of my outfits. And I wear through shoes like no tomorrow.
A lot of times I'll have extra shoes in boxes waiting for my current shoes to bite the dust. Prevents me from having nothing to wear one Tuesday morning.
Here are some cute black shoes:

And here are some cute brown ones:

What about you? What are your must have shoes?

What I Wore In Portland

The day before we left for Portland, Ashley and I were talking on the phone. I noticed that the forecast called for temps in the 90's (it's been in the 70's in Seattle). We agreed if it was going to be that hot we should pack dresses. I didn't have a ton of dresses so I went out and bought 4 including this first one from Old Navy I was wanting.
I wore this one on the train ride to Portland and all day Friday. From Old Navy. Very comfy but I showed a lot of cleavage.
This next one I bought at Ross. It's teal not the same blue as the Old Navy one. Less cleavage was shown. I wore this Saturday day time.
Another one I bought at Ross. I wore this Saturday night time for our dinner at Beast.

And for Sunday I wore this one from Old Navy. It's the same as the first dress but in a different color. So again more cleavage.

The Basics

The Style Clinic preaches buying the basics and not spending a lot on them. The basics will be the foundation of most of your outfits. Depending on how you are your basics might be like mine. I work in a casual office. I can wear tshirts and slacks most days and not have a problem. If anyone dresses up (below senior management) people will think you are going on a job interview :) If you work in a more formal environment your basics might include dressier tops and button downs. The key is to buy what you can afford to fit your lifestyle.
After clearing out my closet I headed to Old Navy (30% off last weekend, baby) and bought a few tops in basic colors. When I am done with getting my basics I hope to at least have one of each of these colors:

I included some less plain tops to show that basic doesn't mean boring. Who has bought a wildly patterned skirt and not had a basic top to go with it. A solid color shirt can pull an outfit together. Your basic colored tops might be different based on your skin tone. I don't look bad in white but I am tired of staining them so I'll be passing on white for now. I tend to buy a lot of black so I'm being more conscious of buying other colors.
What about bottoms? Ok so you bought some plain shirts to go with your outrageously patterned skirts and stylish pants but what about those crazy tops? What do you wear with them?

I think everyone should have a pair of gray pants, khakis, jeans, a pair of black pants, a pair of brown pants, a pair of navy pants (which I forgot to find), and a black skirt.
What are your essential basics?
