Frustrating

Ok things look a little different here. I was having problems with the old template which was making it hard to see anything! So I took it down and will get something new once I have internet at home. Sorry if you visited before and couldn't read anything. Please pardon the inconvience and things will look different next month.

Almost Moved In!

Whew! We got all of our big stuff out of the old apartment over the weekend. We are living at the new place now but without internet. So sad! I have tons of pics of the new place (sans furniture) but I packed up the camera cable! Hopefully our IT guru (Jeff) will be over tonight to help us get internet access. If not, we'll have to wait :( Let's hope for the best!
Looking forward to sharing pics with you all soon!

Today's The Day!

Today we get the keys to our new place. I'm not sure when we'll be set up with internet access so I might be quiet til after the Thanksgiving holiday. Feel free to email me or follow me on Twitter.

Fun Food Meme

So, here it is, 7 things you didn’t realize you needed to know about me and food…

1. I hate tuna casserole. When I was a kid, I  caught the flu right after eating it for the first time. It wasn't the casserole, but I still associate it with being sick.
2. I usually don't eat leftovers. I will eat pizza, Chinese and Thanksgiving turkey leftovers. Tai will eat all our leftovers so no food goes to waste usually.
3. I'd never had real mayo til I went to college. Mom used Miracle Whip my whole life. But when I got to college, they didn't have Miracle Whip so I tried real mayo. I love it and refuse to use anything else.
4. I love trying new foods and look for opportunities to try something new. But if I am hungry, I lose all rational thought and only want bread or a cheeseburger. Or both.
5. I don't like tomatoes on my sandwich only cause they tend to make sandwiches soggy. But I usually like tomatoes in all other situations except for in spinach salads. Yucky combo in my mind.
6. I like veggies that most people don't-brussel sprouts, beets, cabbage, etc. I can't think of a vegetable I don't like.
7. I love all types of Asian cuisine-Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. When I went to college in a tiny Ohio town there was no Thai and I was seriously into Pad Thai back then. Four long years with no Pad Thai, no Pho, no Sushi, no Korean short ribs. I'd come home on breaks and eat as much Asian food as I could.

Library Loot

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Eva and Marg that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.

I really thought we wouldn't be getting anything this week, but we found a couple of things to add to our hold list which came quickly. I read about Elantris on Vanilla Joy's blog. It sounded wonderful and a must add immediately. And Tai found Shrapnel all on his own. He sent me the link and asked me to see if the library had it. I think he'll probably read that next despite our huge pile of books he should read first!
I posted my review of A Year In The Merde by Stephen Clarke on the FITG blog. I enjoyed it and recommend it.

Wine Racks

Since I have an almost separate space for a dining area (which will be mostly taken up for our freezer), I am determined to buy a wine rack. We don't buy a lot of wine, but we do have a few bottles laying around and I would like to keep some on hand for company. I really want a floor model as opposed to a counter top model.

I like this one from Target but I think I would prefer something with a flat top and drawers so it was more functional.

This is one is more what I think I want but leaves me pretty cold.

Although I've long wanted a baker's rack so maybe this is my best solution.
I really can't wait to move in so I can start moving things about and finding the best possible place for stuff. Just a few more days!

My Purple Obsession

When I last went shopping, I bought 3 purple tops. It's fair to say I am obsessed with purple.

I do have that tee from Old Navy, but I'd love that cowl neck dress as well as everything else!

Tai's Fragrance Choices

When I met Tai I thought he was pretty low key. He didn't seem to need a lot of time to get ready or have a lot of "beauty" products. But after a while I realized he did have some things he was high maintenance about. At first I didn't notice that he wore cologne every day. At first I thought he was just trying for me, but no he wears cologne everyday and he likes to have a bunch to choose from.
At first he just had Obsession.

But right around our first Christmas together he mentioned he was running out, so I could him the Calvin Klein sampler of men's fragrances which included Obession, CK One, Eternity, and Euphoria.

He really liked all of them and they lasted him a while. But Jeff took him fragrance shopping and he came home with an old favorite of his.

Tai used to wear this when he lived in LA. He hadn't been able to find it locally here. He didn't want me to buy it online since it might break in route or be the wrong scent. But he found it when he went shopping with Jeff. This is his current everyday scent.
But when he was shopping with Jeff he also discovered a new scent. He raved about it and took me to Macy's to check it out.

Neither of us are a fan of the packaging but I admit it smells good on him. I bought him a bottle as a just cause gift. This is his special occasion fragrance.
I have one bottle of perfume. Tai bought it for me when we first started dating.

I still have about 3/4 of the bottle. I rarely wear perfume. I prefer scented lotions so I only wear it when I have unscented lotion which is rare for me.
What about you? What's your favorite fragrance?

Dane Cook Cracks Me Up

When Tai saw one of Dane Cook's comedy shows with Jeff he insisted I watch it too. I'd seen Dane Cook before and failed to see why he was funny. But since my honey insisted I gave it a try. Ah the things we do for love. But I love it. We watch it over and over again and quote him frequently. Here are some of my favorites. These are not safe for work and could be offensive, so watch at your own risk.

This is probably the worst one but so worth it to me for the Mortal Kombat reference.

Tai and I use this insult all the time when we're being silly. Never fails to make us both laugh.
And I couldn't get this one to embed but here's the link. And this one is so true for us. We reenact this part every time we got to the movies.

I picked up these 2 for Tai today. The other day Tai mentioned that he's be interested in reading books about Serenity and Firefly. So first is the 2nd book in the Serenity graphic novel series. Still waiting for book one. And Serenity, a movie tie in book. Hopefully we'll get some books read before the move.
There might not be library loot for the next 2 weeks but we'll see. I have a hard time staying away for the library.

Lovely Lamps

Along with additional space we'll also get a few more dark places. In the winter our current apartment gets a little dark. We have plenty of table lamps but I'm thinking of adding a few more floor lamps.

Items in this set:
Target.com lamp, $170
Target.com lamp, $80
Ikea.com lamp, $50
Ikea.com lamp, $40
Ikea.com lamp, 19 SGD
I love the first one. Maybe in the bedroom. I love the octopus lamps too. I was thinking of at least 3 for the living room. Maybe you all will be able to tell me better when you see pics.

Crockpot Rotisserie Chicken

This is juiciest chicken I ever had. I followed Stephanie's recipe which was so easy. I left the chicken in for 9 hours so the meat was falling off the bone. It was so delicious, so good. It tasted really close to the chicken from the store.

Currently....

drinking

Tai and I started drinking acai berry juice every day. Tai really feels that it's helping him and giving him more energy. I haven't noticed a difference yet.

using

I needed a new night cream. I liked Oil Of Olay's night cream but I was starting to break out. Mostly due to the fact I forgot wash my face at night. So I decided to try Boots Anti-Blemish Night Moisturizer.  My skin's been clearer this week and some of the redness I had disappeared.

eating

I discovered these turkey meatball one day. Now we always have a bag in the freezer. Such a great quick meal. I've used them in soup, spaghetti, on sandwiches. They are delicious.

We're Moving!

Tai and I are moving into a larger apartment this month. I cannot tell you how excited I am. Right now we live in a one bedroom apatment. We'll be moving into a 2 bedroom which is about 300 square feet larger than where we are now. We move in 3 weeks so I'll be talking a lot about this move. And no worries. I'll post pics of the new place once we get the keys.

Salmon With Sweet & Spicy Rub

I had a piece of salmon chilling in the freezer. I searched for a new recipe online and found this one. Such an easy recipe. I overcooked it a little bit but it was tasty. I would make it again.

Just 2 this week. Tai's kind of nervous that we have too many books. Most of them are for him so he's worried about getting through them all. I got Strange Brew since it's an anthology with some our current favorite authors. And I Can Make You Sleep is for Tai since he has insomnia. I told him to read it but I'll probably read it for him. It has a disc on meditation and relaxation. Hopefully we can give them a try.
I finished Magic To The Bone last week. It was ok. I don't know if I'll read the rest of the series. I have too many serieses(what is the plural of series?) to read. I'm trying to read Wild Cards but it's hard for me to get into. But I'll keep trying.

Spice Rubbed Pork Chops

I saved this recipe from A Southern Fairytale. it was a great quick meal. I just added rice and we were eating.

I added a little more brown sugar than recipe called for since I felt the cumin was a little strong. It came out sweet, almost barbecue tasting. The chops were tender and juicy just like she said they'd be. Great quick meal!

Murder Mystery Party

Saturday we went to our friend's house for a murder mystery party. I love murder mystery parties. It was an old west theme.

I'm a widow (Helena Handcart) and Tai's a cowboy (P'Elvis Swaggerin').

Tai and Christy (the hostess) goofing off.

This is my favorite. Tai really loved his costume. I love the hat!
Hope you had a great Halloween!
