Wine Racks

Since I have an almost separate space for a dining area (which will be mostly taken up for our freezer), I am determined to buy a wine rack. We don't buy a lot of wine, but we do have a few bottles laying around and I would like to keep some on hand for company. I really want a floor model as opposed to a counter top model.

I like this one from Target but I think I would prefer something with a flat top and drawers so it was more functional.

This is one is more what I think I want but leaves me pretty cold.

Although I've long wanted a baker's rack so maybe this is my best solution.
I really can't wait to move in so I can start moving things about and finding the best possible place for stuff. Just a few more days!

Currently....

drinking
I'd heard about Shandy's before. We choose this because Tai's not a fan of most beers. It's smooth and a little sweet. Perfect for both of us. I like the combination. Tai likes that it doesn't really taste like beer.

needing

I've broken 2 of my sunglasses and left my other pair at a friend's house. And it's sunny here. I need sunglasses. I'll be out looking for a pair this weekend.

using
I bought this pan at Target last year. It's from their Calphalon line. I thought I'd use it occasionally. Ha. It's replacing my cast iron skillet as my go to pot. If only it went into the oven.

A Special Meal

On Saturday Tai and I won't be at a restaurant. Partly the money thing but I dislike going out for the sake of going out. I rather go out when I want to. And Saturday, I just don't want to. So we'll have our special meal at home. And yes we have a regular menu for this special dinner.
This menu gets pulled out at birthdays, holidays and special occasions. It's hands down our favorite special occasion dinner at home.
First we start with aged steaks from Whole Foods:
Shamelessly stolen from here. We bought these once on a lark and fell in love with them. My mouth waters thinking about them.
Then bacon wrapped scallops:
So yummy. I love the combo of the scallops and the bacon. It's so salty and sweet at the same time.
And we'll wash the whole thing down with Tai's favorite lambic. So what's on your Valentine's Day menu?

Happy New Year!

Myspace Comments

I'm kind of glad to see 2008 end. It was one roller coaster ride. I'm hoping that 2009 is a little more calm and filled with happier things.
Tonight we are headed over to our friend's house for some celebrating and food. I talk alot about food on here but never about drinks. I do love a good drink and many of you will imbibe some tonight. But what will you consume? Here a few recipes to wet your whistle.
Even though Christmas is over the Merry Christmas sounds delicious. Or how about a Christmas Cosmopolitan? Frozen margaritas are always popular at our parties. This is a similar recipe to what our friend, Michelle, makes. Or her husband, Greg, has started making these Washington Apple Martinis recently. I'm not sure if he use Crown Royale though. I do like some of these concoctions but I'm pretty happy with a glass of Bushmills.
Whatever your plan is, please stay safe. Have a plan on how to get home safely. I definitely want to see all of you in 2009!
