Weekly Geek #2

Judge a Book By Its Cover!

This week it's all about judging books by their covers! Pick a book--any book, really--and search out multiple book cover images for that book. They could span a decade or two (or more)...Or they could span several countries. Which cover is your favorite? Which one is your least favorite? Which one best 'captures' what the book is about?
For this WG, I went with one of my favorite love stories-The House of Mirth by Edith Warton. Tragic. Sad. Wonderful. I read it periodically.
I think this one is my favorite:
I hope her dress and the pinkish hue of the cover! I also think it's a good representation of Lily.
My least favorite is this one:This one reminds me of the ones I used to buy for a couple of dollars. Great literature on the cheap. But what a boring cover. Who wants to read this?
Are there are novels that you read over and over again?

  1. I recently downloaded Stanza to my iPhone. One of my favorite features is that it lets you choose your book cover. When you download a book, you can swap out the cover to something you like better. I love that.

  4. This is a very interesting choice! I think that when the book's main character is a woman, I don't like it when there is a woman on the cover because then it isn't as easy for me to picture her looking how I want her to look. I feel that way about Jane Eyre and many others, however I see that it makes sense to put a woman on the cover since that's what it's about.

  5. I have read some Wharton, but not this one. I saw the movie version a few years ago, with Gillian Anderson, and it was really good. The cover you picked as your favorite reminds me of her in that film.

Thanks for stopping by my WG post!
