Watching...
Tai found Community on Hulu and told me I would enjoy it. He was right. We both really enjoy it. I look forward to marathoning through the first and second seasons this weekend.

Eating...

Jeff brought over this delicious ice cream. I like the combo of peanut butter and chocolate but the peanut butter they use is so yummy. I'll be buying this again.

Listening...

Jeff first exposed Tai and I to the Piano Guys. I love this song and could listen to it all day.

Tai does listen to this one all day. It's currently his favorite song.

This one makes me smile.

Watching...

Tai found Man vs Food through Netflix. We've watched all of season one and got Jeff into the show too. Each episode adds a destination to our travel wish list. We've been to 2 of the places on the Seattle show (Red Mill and The Crab Pot) and are planning on going to Beth's Cafe someday.

Listening...
We have to thank Straight No Chaser to introducing us to The Script. It was their version of The Man Who Can't Be Moved that led us to find the original. We liked their version too so we listened to more of their music and have been enjoying it.

Eating...
I'm loving persimmons right now. I can't stop eating them!

Watching...
Jeff got us Season one Boardwalk Empire and it took us about a week to watch the whole season. I didn't think I would like it. In fact I watched the first half of the season because Tai was so into it. But I finally got into and really enjoyed. Can't wait to get our hands on Season two. Sucks that we don't have HBO!

Drinking...
I started drinking coconut water this summer. Vita Coco is by far my favorite. I have one a day and feel so much better because of it. Sometimes I have trouble with hydration. I can forget to drink enough water especially if I don't feel well so this takes of that issue. Plus the potassium really helps me avoid charlie horses.

Eating...
Pic stolen from here.
I love this Pub Cheese from Trader Joe's. It's delicious. I love it on crackers for an easy snack.

I used to do these posts about things I currently liked but stopped. I'm going to start that up again.

Loving...
We've had a really mild summer here in the PNW. As a result I've had 3 colds this summer. After the first one, Tai mentioned we should get a tea kettle. He was thinking of stove top one but I choose this one instead. I love that I can heat up water quickly. The red color doesn't hurt.

Eating...
I grabbed a sample of these Crunchmasters Multi-Grain Crackers at Costco, then went back for 4 more samples. Finally the sample guy pointed to the boxes stacked next to him and I took the hint. I top them with Laughing Cow cheese for a delicious snack.

Watching...

Yes, 30 Rock's been a round for a while but Tai and I just started watching this. I love it. We have little marathons every night.
What are you currently enjoying?

New Obsession

Tai and I have a habit of falling in love with tv shows that get canceled (Reaper, Better Off Ted). In order to help eliminate that let down we started watching shows that have already been canceled. Enter my new favorite show: Veronica Mars.
We're almost done with season one. One reason I'm loving this show is this guy:
I'm thisclose to fan fiction. Tai calls him Spike (we're big on the Buffy references). Since I loved Spike too, it's no wonder I love Logan Echolls. He's just adorable. He's got the best quotes.

I'll be sad when we're all done with Veronica Mars but I'm sure we'll find a new old show to watch.

Friday Randomness

* I'm loving Pinterest. Friend me there.
* I haven't been posting much about food. I don't know if that will change. Tai got braces so I'll be making lots of soft foods and soup.
* I bought some garam marsala for butter chicken (yum). I love the smell. I need a lotion with that smell. I could smell it all day along.
* I need a haircut but I'm not sure what I'll do. I'm reluctant to cut it because I'll probably do the same thing I always do. I don't feel like "wasting money". I'm waiting for a Groupon before I bite the bullet.
* I got new glasses. I usually wear contacts but I wear them too much and it's damaging my eyes. I miss my old 1992 glasses. They were huge and covered half my face! My new glasses are tiny and I have limited peripheral vision. They'll take some getting use to.
* We've got everything set for our Portland trip in June. I wish we were going now!
* We started watching Justified. I love Timothy Olyphant.
* About once a month, I must watch Buffy's Once More With Feeling. I have the soundtrack on my iPod.
* I'm really looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. It's been a long week.
* I'm on track to read more than 100 books this year. I'm pretty happy about my progress so far.
Happy Friday! What are your weekend plans?

How We Cut The Cord On Cable

In October we ditched the cable box.

The primary reason was that our cable was so crappy. We had cable through a dish (something I was not a fan of but the only cable choice in our apartment complex). Frequently we lost signal. The final straw was when our DVR failed to record an episode of Glee and mangled an episode of Chuck. I called the cable company and told them to take their box back. They did send a tech out to check if anything could be done before we said sayōnara. They determined that we lived in a dead spot and would always have shitty reception. I wish they would have told us when they installed the cable.
So what do we do without cable? We still watch plenty of tv. We signed up for Hulu Plus and Netflix and use our Playstation 3 to stream tv and movies to our tv. I did buy an antenna and digital converter box so we can watch live tv like football games and award shows but we haven't hooked it up yet.

Life without cable has been easy for me since I don't watch any reality tv except for Dancing With The Stars (which is on Hulu anyway) occasionally. A lot of my friends who watch Bravo shows have felt lost without cable tv. Plus we save $100 a month. Saving money wasn't the reason for ditching cable but it's a benefit.
So have you ditched cable? Would you?

Lazy Weekend

I had a lovely 4 day weekend. After getting Veterans Day off, I took Friday off to get some stuff done. I got the basics done but wound up spending a lot of time on the couch watching tv shows. About a month ago we got rid of cable and have been happily enjoying our Netflix and Hulu subscriptions.
Here's a little of what we've been watching:
Eureka is wonderfully quirky show. I love all the characters.
Jeff encouraged Tai to watch Entourage. I'd seen the first couple of seasons and liked the show. Tai had a lot of resistance to watching it but loves it now.
Add in a little Chuck and Big Bang Theory and it was a good weekend.

Awesome.

Ah, I have a new celebrity crush. Well I've been crushing on him for a few months now, but I wanted to share my love of Neil Patrick Harris will all of you.
I remember NPH back when he was Doogie Howser:
I watched the show, but I never torn NPH's picture from Teen Beat to put on my wall. Doogie Howser got canceled and years went by before I thought of NPH again. It was Joss Whedon's Dr Horrible Sing Along Blog that got me hooked on NPH again. Go watch it. NPH, Nathan Fillion (love him) and Felicia Day are fantastic. I thought NPH was brilliant but where could I see him on a regular basis? Fast forward this summer. Tai and I were looking for a new tv show to watch and several people recommended How I Met Your Mother. I was glad to see NPH and Jason Segal (love him too).

The Slapsgiving episodes are my favorites.

If you've never seen HIMYM or are watching the beginning seasons, this contains a ton of spoilers. But it really show why I love Barney Stinson!
My new motto in life.
Then he went on Glee. I die.

Tai plays this for me all the time. Joss Whedon also directed this episode, FTW.
The real Neil Patrick Harris is pretty awesome too. He's going to be a dad to twins soon.
Ain't he adorable? Any other NPH fans out there?

Lost!

As many of you know, Lost ends this weekend. It has become my favorite show. I remember the first time I saw the first episode. I rented the first season (I was a couple of seasons late to the party), watched the first episode and said no, I don't want to get sucked into this. And left it at that. Fast forward a year or two when I met Tai. He just started watching the first season and wanted me to watch it with him (we're really big on watching tv shows together). I resisted but he was so cute so I gave in and became a Lostie. (For those of you counting, I'm a Lostie and a Gleek. I wear a lot of badges). Now 6 seasons later, it's ending. I don't know how I feel about that. I cried at the episode with the sub a couple of weeks ago. I'll probably cry at the finale.

I'm definately excited that our friends are having a Lost Finale party. Sharon made the coolest invites. I have to share them:
The envelope:
The letterhead and the boarding pass sleeve:
The boarding pass:
We're encouraged to dress up, but I probably won't since I tend to be lame. What would I dress up as anyway? I'm so not that creative. But Sharon is. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with!

Madonna!

Ever since I heard that Glee would be doing an all Madonna episode, I have been waiting for tonight. I know what songs they'll sing but I wanted to do a post of my 10 favorite Madonna songs in honor of tonight's Glee episode.

Cherish

Don't Cry for Me Argentina

Beautiful Stranger

Material Girl

4 Minutes

Hung Up

Express Yourself

Crazy For You

Don't Tell Me

I'll Remember

Ray Of Light

What's your favorite Madonna song?

We're Gleeks!

In the fall when the new shows come out I heard people talking about Glee. OMG, you've got to watch it, they told me. I asked what it was about but no one told me. Just watch it. But I didn't watch it. Months later in December, I decided to see what the fuss was about. I went to hulu.com and watched episode 6. Completely confused, I decided that I needed to see episode one. It wasn't on hulu anymore so I did a little digging and found the first episode. When they sang Don't Stop Believing, I was tearing up, begging Tai to buy the DVD for Christmas for me.

Tai reluctantly bought it for me and sat down to watch it with me. Tai didn't want to like this show. He was very opposed to me watching. But you guessed it. He loves Glee. Everyone one he meets, he tells them about Glee. He posts about Glee on Facebook. He's studied up on all the cast members. He's trying to be top Gleek. He's seen the first 13 episodes at least 4 times now. If you come to our house he will make you watch the first episode at least. And if we can't watch Glee, he'll want to listen to his current favorite song:

He really likes Kurt's version. He got Jeff into Glee to and Jeff got the 2 CDs of Glee music. See we're gleeks. And yes, Tai's a little OCD. Next month he'll move off Glee to something else though.

A Picture Is Worth A 1000 Words

I saw this on Becky's blog and thought it would be fun to do for a Friday.
I have to use Google Images to explain my answers for each category listed below.

1. Favorite Beverage

I love ice tea. It's my perfect drink. I can drink gallons of it. Tai and I have an ice tea maker so we always have a fresh pitcher handy.

My Hometown

I've in my hometown for more than 1/2 my life. I love it too. If you look hard enough you can see the Seattle skyline in the background.

My Favorite TV Show

Yes both of my favorite shows are no longer on the air. I watch them on DVD all the time.

Your Occupations

I've been working in social services for about 10 years. I love helping people.

My First Car

I love Patricia or as Tai calls her Smokin' Betty. Yes I've named my car :)

Your Favorite Dish

Right now, Pho is my favorite meal. I love it.

Celebrity You Have Been Told You Resemble

Celebrity On Your To-Do List

Oh Gerard. So lovely.

I loved my cabbage patch dolls as a child.

I'm dreaming of going to Hawaii. I've never been. A nice relaxing vacation sounds perfect right now.

I decided to play around and Mad Men myself. I look pretty fierce as a 1950's gal. Love the dress and the blue eye shadow!

reading
As you know Tai and I started the Sookie Stackhouse series. We both liked the first book and can't wait to continue the series.

eating
Tai brought this licorice home last month from Trader Joe's. I love it. I cannot stop eating it. And I usually dislike strawberry licorice. But this stuff is so yummy!

disliking
I haven't talked about something I tried and didn't like, but I really don't like these floss singles. I bought them because I liked that they were precut strips. I thought they might make flossing a little easier, but it's the worst floss. It doesn't glide at all and is a struggle to use. Plus I obviously use more that 18" of floss at a time because I've had to use 2 packages most night. I'll pass next time!

eatingI love these Pixie Tangerines. I found them at Whole Foods. They are juicy and sweet.

usingI adore this stain remover from Melaluca. It's been taking out all the stains so far-a little blood, a little dirt. I'm tempted to make a big mess so I see if it takes all stains out.

watching

Yes, this show has been on for a while. We've seen a few episodes here and there but now we're going to watch the seasons from the beginning.

readingI really enjoyed Revolutionary Road. I understood Jack and April's feelings and by the end of the book felt that I had become friends with them. I was sad to finish the book. I liked how the book made me think about my own life. Was I happy? What had I given up? Yates' writing style was incredible and really got under my skin in a good way. Highly recommended. Hello My Name is Alice also wrote a review-watch out though, some minor spoilers. Melody's Reading Corner did a review as well.

using
I bought this before we left for Vegas. It really works. I get dry skin patches in the winter but not with this. Totally combats dry skin!

watching

We love Nathan Filion so I knew we'd be watching this show. We love this show. We love the back and forth between Castle and Beckett. I hope this show sticks around.

I put this book on my tbr after I decided to stop buying bottled water. It was eye opening. It made me feel better about switching to tap water. I did look into where my water comes from which was very interesting. I do recommend this book if you want to learn about the politics of bottled water. Reviews can be found at ReplayGround, EcoWomen, and This Ain't Livin'.

watching

We've been watching Reaper since day one. I'm so glad it came back for a second season. We both love Sock. He's got to be our favorite.

Khakis
Khakis by honeylin on Polyvore.com
It seems that I have no khaki pants. They aren't my favorite type of pant but they can be handy, goes well with a variety of clothing. Plus it's just a good staple item. I'm never attracted to them in the store. I'm going to put them at the top of my list of items I need.

Jen introduced me to this tea. It's delicious in iced tea. Three bags of this and 3 bags of Lipton make a great blend. It's like a spiced orange drink. Yum.

I read this for book club. Janet recommended this. I was able to pick it up cheap. I wasn't sure I was going to like but I really did. I wanted to read it before the movie came out. It was a very poignant love story.

My coworkers have been badgering me to stop buying bottled water. I've bought water bottles before but I never liked them or used them too long. But this one seems like a winner. I've been using it for a while now. No more bottled water!

We caught the first episode of this show. So funny. I was laughing out! I have high hopes for this show.
